In brief
The website stores nothing on your device beyond what it strictly needs, unless you accept analytics through the banner. No cookie or script that stores anything is loaded before you choose, Accept and Reject are equal single taps, and you can change your choice on this page at any time. Separately we measure pages and page speed in ways that store and read nothing on your device. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell your data.
Your choice
The banner you saw on your first visit recorded one decision. Here it is, and here is where you change it.
Checking your current choice.
Change it any time. Rejecting stops analytics straight away and clears what the analytics library stored; accepting starts them from this page onwards.
Strictly necessary
These are needed for the site to do what you asked of it, so under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, or for visitors in the European Economic Area the national rules implementing the ePrivacy Directive, they do not need your consent.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
snootly.analytics-consent | snootly.app (browser local storage) | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so the banner does not ask again and a “no” stays a no. It holds one word, granted or denied, and nothing that identifies you. | Until you clear site data or change your choice |
| Sign-in session cookies | snootly.app | Keep our own team signed in to the administration area, and hold the password for our internal roadmap page. They are set only when someone signs in to those areas; ordinary visitors never receive them. | Session, or until sign-out |
The pages that hand an email link over to the app (the sign-in confirmation and invite pages) set nothing.
Analytics, with your consent
If you accept analytics, we load PostHog, our product analytics provider, hosted in the European Union. Until you accept, none of its code is downloaded and nothing below is stored.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
ph_*_posthog | PostHog, as a first-party cookie and local storage on snootly.app | Holds a random visitor identifier and session identifier so that page views, clicks and session replays from one browser can be counted together. Session replays mask every text field you type into. Sign-in tokens and invitee email addresses are removed from page addresses before any event is sent. | Up to one year, or until you reject analytics |
The lawful basis for the analytics themselves is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR and, for visitors in the European Economic Area, the GDPR), and the analytics data is kept for the period set out in Section 9 of the Privacy Notice. Rejecting analytics on this page stops capture at once and clears what PostHog stored in your browser.
Measuring without cookies
Separately from the banner, two things measure this website without touching your device. Neither sets a cookie, reads one, or stores anything in your browser, so under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, or for visitors in the European Economic Area the national rules implementing the ePrivacy Directive, neither needs your consent. Our lawful basis for both is our legitimate interest in understanding which pages are useful and how well they work (Article 6(1)(f) of the UK GDPR and, for visitors in the European Economic Area, the GDPR).
Our own page count
We keep a simple count of how many times each page is viewed. This happens on our server, so it sets no cookie, reads nothing from your device and runs no tracking script. We record the page, the website you arrived from (the domain only, never the full link) and the country your request came from. We do not store your IP address or your browser details: they are turned into a one-way scrambled code using a secret that changes every day, so the code cannot be turned back into you and cannot follow you from one day to the next. The result is a visitor count and nothing else, with no profile attached to it.
Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights
Vercel hosts this website, and its own measurement records which pages are viewed and how well each page performs in a real browser: how quickly it appears, how soon it answers your first tap, and whether the layout shifts while it loads. Visitors are counted from a code Vercel derives on its own servers from your network address and browser, which is replaced every day, so it cannot follow you from one day to the next. Nothing is written to or read from your device, no profile is built, and the result is aggregate: page counts and timings.
The measuring script is served from snootly.app itself, not from another company’s server. Sign-in tokens and invitee email addresses are removed from page addresses before anything is sent, the same protection PostHog gets, and our own administration pages are never reported at all.
What we do not use
- No advertising, retargeting or social media tracking cookies.
- No third-party embeds: no video players, maps or widgets that set their own cookies.
- No fonts, scripts or styles from third-party servers. Everything the page needs is served from snootly.app.
- No fingerprinting.
Clearing storage in your browser
Every browser lets you view and delete cookies and site data for snootly.app from its privacy settings. Deleting our data resets your analytics choice too, so the banner will ask you again on your next visit. Blocking all cookies does not break this site.
